Please join us for our next LACE Virtual Coffee Chat on Tuesday, November 17, 2:00-3:00 PM, led by our own LACE President-Elect, Amanda Gill!
This month's Coffee Chat titled, "NACE Career Readiness Competencies: AI Edition," poses a great question -- what would career readiness look like if each NACE competency were rooted in a basic AI literacy skill?
More than a third of entry-level jobs now require AI skills, yet half of graduating seniors say they aren't developing them. This session closes that gap using a framework career services and employers already share: NACE"s eight career readiness competencies. We'll look at what each competency becomes when it's rooted in an AI literacy skill, such as critical thinking as evaluating AI output and professionalism as responsible, accountable AI use.
Career services professionals will leave with a scaffolded model for building a matching AI literacy curriculum. Employers will leave with a competency-based interview questions and a shared rubric for assessing how candidates use AI, not just whether they do.
Amanda Gill is President-Elect of LACE and Coordinator of Employer Campus Activities at Louisiana Tech University's Career Center, where she connects employers with students through on-campus recruiting and engagement. She is also Community Manager for the AI Leaders micro-credential program, offered in partnership with UIC and is pursuing her Ed.D. in Instructional Design and Technology at Liberty University. Amanda has worked in Louisiana public education since 2011 and is passionate about helping students, career professionals, and employers use AI thoughtfully and responsibly.
